How long have you been making music, and what sparked your interest in music?

I grew up being a classical pianist as I got lessons every so often. It wasn’t something that I could really express ALL my emotions with. However, I wanted to broaden my skills within music, which was when I picked up the ukulele (my first stringed instrument). After the ukulele, I went on to learn guitar and bass. Now, I’m here playing only electric guitar, piano, and bass. I still play the piano a lot within worship and honestly because of its beauty, but I just love to shred.

Tell us about your time at NOMU so far? Do you have a favorite memory or experience during your time here?

I think my favorite memory or experience here is getting to collaborate with other musicians. For example, my current band wouldn’t be a thing if I didn’t join this program. Just getting to collaborate and be inspired by other artists here is amazing to me. Another thing would be getting more time to spend with Nick Magaña, my favorite musician at this program.

When you're writing or playing music, what influences constantly inspire you as a musician/artist (specific artist, film, art piece, etc.)?

So I have a favorite artist, and her name is Michelle Zauner from Japanese Breakfast. She has this older band called Little Big League. I’ve been listening to them all the time, pretty much. Just seeing someone scream their emotions out is so powerful. So she is my biggest inspiration as of right now. A cool thing about her is that she’s half Korean since you don’t see any Asian artists out there. Artists like Michelle Zauner and Karen O inspire me to keep going.  

What are your plans or goals in your life now concerning school, music, or just personally, any other pursuits?

I just want to go on tour.

Any hobbies outside of music that you're interested in?

No. 

Is it all just music?

It’s just music. I do graphic design as well. I would occasionally do some art commissions and make flyers for bands, so it’s still music-related.
